My studio was a kitchen A stinky damp basement kitchen.  The cupboards were full of mould and it was pretty dark and depressing. We always intended on moving it up a floor to a bigger space, as Nick & I love cooking together. We had a great plan to install the new kitchen and then rip the old one, except the old one flooded and I was heavily pregnant with nowhere to cook. Ahhh... The Print Lass Story

Hello! I'm Nikki AKA The Print Lass and I work from my basement studio in our West Yorkshire home. I set up The Print Lass with the aim of running my business flexibly around my young family and to scratch that creative itch. I love colour, pattern and print. Hand printing especially. Experimenting with colours and the delicious results of overlapping inks. That slightly grainy texture and ever so tiny mis-registration of inks (which is part of the charm in my opinion). I love the whole process and the slight panic that it could all go a bit wrong. I've always loved anything with a geeky process to master.

Is this a proper job?

Lots of what I do feels quite selfish as I really enjoy doing this. How can someone spend all day creating pretty things and enjoying themselves? It's a whimsical pursuit surely?
